Brussels, 22/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - Spain, which currently holds the rotating presidency of the EU Council of Ministers, is holding a meeting of higher education, research and innovation experts in the Euro-Mediterranean area in Benidorm on 4-5 March. An action plan is being prepared and will be put to ministers for approval at their meeting in Brdo, Slovenia on 25-26 April.
Still on higher education, the European Commission has announced a call for projects under the 4th phase of the Tempus programme, which covers the period from 2007 to 2013 and which has an indicative budget of €53.8 million. The general aim of the programme is to facilitate cooperation in higher education among the member states of the European Union and neighbouring partner countries, the Commission says. The purpose behind this call for projects, it says, is to encourage multilateral cooperation between higher education establishments, authorities and bodies of member and partner states by laying the emphasis on the reform and modernisation of higher education.
