22/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - Spain, ultimately, is prepared to take in five former detainees from the Guantanamo prison camp, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Ángel Moratinos recently announced. In late January, Moratinos said that Spain was finalising procedures to take in two former prisoners, a Palestinian and a Yemeni. The nationalities of the three others have not been revealed. Moratinos also encouraged the other European countries “to do as much as they can” to take in other former Guantanamo detainees. “If we all agree that the Guantanamo prison is a horror, an unacceptable anachronism and morally indefensible, then let's try to get it closed,” he said after the EU-Brazil ministerial meeting.
