Brussels, 23/12/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 23 December, the EU Council of Ministers adopted, by written procedure, the regulation amending the remuneration and pensions of civil servants and other European Union agents, with effect from 1 July 2009. By unanimous decision, the Council amended the European Commission's initial proposal, to a salary increase for EU officials of 1.85% - half what was recommended by the Commission (3.7%).
