20/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - Just a few days from the Parliament debate on the safety of toys from China (25 September in Strasbourg), Meglena Kuneva, European Consumer Commissioner, spoke firmly to Bryan Stockton, Vice-President of Mattel International, whom she met on 20 September. “The challenge facing Mattel and the toy industry is to anticipate problems and weaknesses. They must be vigilant”, the commissioner said. She invited Mattel to provide the Commission and all other toy manufacturers with information on the certification system of suppliers and inspection used by Mattel to strengthen its new security control programme ranging from raw materials to the finished product.
