07/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - Piero Marrazzo, President of Regione Lazio, signed a protocol of understanding with Massimo Gargano, President of Coldiretti Lazio, in Brussels on 3 February, on the feasibility plan for biofuels development in the region. The agriculture in that region could make a significant contribution to the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions thanks to the development of energy crops, Mr Gargano said in a press release in which Coldiretti Lazio Director Toni De Amicis notes the potential of agriculture as a producer of alternative energies for farms for which the cost of energy supplies has reached unbearably high levels. “Italy, and Lazio in particular, are a reservoir of green energy”, Piero Marrazzo said.
