Brussels, 07/02/2006 (Agence Europe) - Russia's Ambassador to the European Union, Vladimir Cizov, said on 31 January during the conference, “OSCE: Security through Dialogue and Cooperation”, in Brussels, that the European Union, “through its common position on many issues, was violating one of the basic principles of the OSCE, namely that all participating states cooperate within the OSCE in their national capacity”. Ambassador Chizov considered this “counter to the principle” of “multilateral cooperation” that underpins the organisation. The Russian Ambassador hoped the Belgian OSCE presidency would begin work to provide the organisation with a Charter and that a thematic mission - for example to combat human trafficking - would be launched during this coming year. He also urged for “moral standards” to be introduced in the media to prevent it being “used by terrorists”. (Source: Our publication Atlantic News)
