15/11/2005 (Agence Europe) - On 13 November, the European Central Bank (ECB), the European Commission and the Egyptian Central Bank signed a bank surveillance cooperation agreement. European aid will take the form of a Eurosystem technical aid programme, starting on 1 December, in which the ECB will be working with Deutsche Bundesbank, the Bank of Greece, the Bank of France and the Banca d'Italia. Two coordinators are based in Cairo, where experienced bank controllers from the central banks involved will regularly travel. The programme will get EUR 2.5 mil form the MEDA programme. Eurosystem (the ECB and the 12 central banks of the eurozone) are already cooperating with Russia in this area.
