17/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - During a four-way meeting on 16 March in Brussels, EU representatives: Jean Asselborn and Javier Solana for the Council, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, the Commission - the Council of Europe, Secretary General Terry Davis and the president of the Committee of Ministers Jan Truszcynski, discussed preparations for the Council of Europe Summit on 16-17 May in Warsaw. They also welcomed the recent appointment of Commission representative to the Council of Europe, insofar as it translates the EU's desire to strengthen cooperation with the organisations of 46. The different parties will have to begin as soon as possible preparatory work on the technical modalities for the EU's accession to the European Convention on Human Rights, so that this accession is possible as soon as the constitutional treaty enters into force.
