17/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission authorised a Belgium aid scheme for the promotion of combined transport in the region of Wallony. The scheme, to run from 2004-2006, will have a budget of EUR 3 million. It provides for aid for the achievement of infrastructure necessary for transhipment, transhipment equipment and intermodal unloading and load systems. A 30% ceiling will be placed on aid in relation to the investment needed (up to a maximum EUR 250,000). Companies that carry out feasibility studies with a view to transferral from road to combined transport may receive aid, with a 50% maximum ceiling, for the funding of these studies.
