17/03/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the Council adopted a common position extending by a year the application of the EU list of persons on whom restrictive measures apply, in an effort to assist the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ITFY) in carrying out its work. Measures intend banning entry or transit through EU territory of people whose activities are likely to help individuals charged by the ITFY but who continue to evade justice or who are acting in a way that could impede the Tribunal from executing its mandate. The list was drawn up for the first time in April 2003 and last amended in January 2005. 36 people on the list are banned from entering the EU.
