The French Ministry of Finance is getting ready to increase the floating capital of the nuclear group AREVA from 4% to around 30%. France intends to put 30% of the group on the market during the first half of 2005, which will bring in some 3 billion EUR for the State (based on its current market value, the capitalisation of AREVA would be worth 10 billion EUR). AREVA's turnover was 8.25 billion EUR in 2003, and it employs 48,000. The French State is estimated to have received 16 billion EUR from privatisations since June 2002. Between 1997 and 2002, income reached 30 billion EUR. -Turkey: The Turkish government is planning the partial privatisation of the biggest producer of steel, ERDEMIR (production capacity of 3 million tonnes of steel, which is set to double within three years). Three groups are said to be interested in taking part in the operation, which could net the State a billion dollars: MITTAL STEEL, ARCELOR and US STEEL.
