20/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - MEP Cem Özdemir (Greens/EFA, Germany) and Claudia Roth, Member of the Bundestag (and former President of the European Parliament Greens Group) welcomes in a declaration the decision of a labour tribunal in Ankara refusing closure of the teachers' trade union, Egitim-Sen. This is an encouraging sign, the two German Green members say, noting that the ban on the trade union had been requested because Egitim.Sen encourages cultural diversity and teaching in mother-tongue languages (for example, Kurdish or Circassian, the two MEPs say). Claudia Roth and Cem Özdemir also insist, when it comes to reform of the criminal code, on abolishing tests for virginity and the penalisation of sexual relations between consenting minors.
