Consultative Commission on Industrial Change visits China

Brussels, 20/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - A delegation of 12 members of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC)'s Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI) will visit China at the invitation of the China Economic and Social Council from 21 September to 2 October. In Beijing, the delegation will hold talks with a wide range of different civil society organisations and the Chinese Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. From 24 to 27 September, the delegation will visit industrial plants in Liaoning province and have talks with local politicians and industrial leaders on European and Chinese experience in the field of industrial restructuring. On 28-29 September, the delegation will participate in a major symposium on economic restructuring and re-employment in Dalian, which will focus on the role of social dialogue in implementing industrial change.

The CCMI is make up of 24 members of the EESC and 30 delegates from the former European Coal and Steel Consultative Committee.
