30/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - According to a poll for the Irish Times, 37% of people questioned intend voting in favour of the Nice Treaty, at the referendum of 19 October, whereas 25% would vote against. Those undecided are 32%, and 7% of those asked say they will not vote. Asked by The Guardians, the Commissioner for Enlargement, Gunter Verheugen launched a serious warning: "I hope very much that Irish voters will understand that it is not only the future of Ireland that is at stake but the future of Europe and the future of countries which have suffered under decades of dictatorship and war and are trying desperately to join a union of free and democratic nations".
