Brussels, 30/09/2002 (Agence Europe) - As expected, the Party of European socialists is presenting its "vision of the future of Europe" this week in a paper drafted by the Socialist/Social-Democrat components of the European Convention, based on an exchange of views that was held at the PES seminar in Birmingham end-August (see EUROPE of 14 September, p.5). The paper will be presented to the press by Giuliano Amato, Vice-President of the European Convention and Socialist component of the Convention, who will be accompanied by members of the co-ordinating team of the members of the PES in the Convention, Antonio Vitorino, European Commissioner (and chair of the working group on the European charter of Fundamental Rights), Gisela Stuart, representative of the British Parliament (and chair of the working group on national parliaments), Giorgios Katiforis MEP, representing the Greek Government in the Convention, Klaus Haensch (chair of the working group on co-ordinating economic policies) and Hildegard Puwak, Romanian Minister for European affairs.
