13/06/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has decided to grant aid of EUR 950,000 to the populations and vulnerable groups affected by drought in Chad. This will help the World Vision organisation, partner to the European Community's Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) to carry out the following action over the next six months: - distribute free or subsidised food to vulnerable groups; - identify and care for malnourished children under five; - increase the capacity of existing feeding centres and set up new ones, 37 in all. Aid will go to some 155,000 persons living in the southern part of the country (Tankjilé, Chari and Logone Occidental).
