12/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - "We hope the passive complicity of the international community and mainly that of the European Union towards Tunisia, a country that is of priority concern to us, will come to an end", said Patrick Baudoin, President of the International Federation of Human Rights Leagues (FIDH). Answering questions put by AFP on the eve of the visit to Tunisia by European Commission President Romano Prodi, Mr Baudoin said that the FIDH "no longer has any illusions about the current Tunisian power that uses the most sophisticated measures to harass those defending human rights and measures of repression against opponents to the powers that be".
