12/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - A delegation of high ranking Swiss civil servants will go on 19 January to Brussels to meet the heads of relations with Switzerland at the DG External Relations in the European Commission. Headed by Michael Ambuhl, Head of the integration office with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the Economy, "she is coming to carry out an exchange of views on the themes of common interest that could at a future date be the object of negotiations, following sector based agreement concluded in 1999", indicated Paul Fivat, Deputy Head of the Swiss mission to the European Union in Brussels. "Switzerland has always signalled its interest for the themes that effects the internal security in the wider sense - fields covered by the Schengen Convention, flux of illegal refugees, etc", he added. As for the European Union, it includes among its issues predilection the fight against customs fraud and saving taxation.
