23/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - On 18 September, the European Commission presented the Council with a proposed directive on transportable pressure equipment. Once it is adopted, this text will replace the current directive (1999/36/EC) on this issue. The Commission's proposal therefore responds solely to a need for simplification and clarification. Neither the scope of application nor the provisions of the directive in force will be substantially modified. The transport of pressurised equipment (such as tanks, containers, barrels and bottles) is a major component of the transport in dangerous goods sector.
