Revised directive on building performance becomes priority

Brussels, 23/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - The Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER) for member states granted the Swedish presidency of the Council on Wednesday 23 September, a mandate for negotiating the informal trialogue with the European Parliament and the European Commission on the revised draft directive on energy performance in buildings, put on the table by the European Commission in November (EUROPE 9782) and amended by the Parliament in April (EUROPE 9889°. Four sessions for talks are on the agenda for negotiators from the presidency, parliament and Commission for 30 September, 14 October, 3 November and 17 November, over the six negotiating blocks on: subjects and definitions; methodology, minimum energy performance requirements and optimum cost levels, existing buildings, new buildings, certification, inspect and control, incentives, revision and information.
