23/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - The Slovenian Minister for Home Affairs, Katarina Kresal, said on Monday 21 September that it was "highly probable" that her country would apply to host the future European agency with responsibility for managing European security databases, according to the press agency STA. However, she added that Slovenia's application would depend on the country's chances of playing host to the headquarters of another agency, the Agency of the Cooperation of Energy Regulators. The final decision as to where the latter agency will be situated is likely to be announced by the end of the year. In June, the European Commission proposed to create, from 2012, an agency with responsibility for the long-term operational management of the second generation Schengen information system (SIS II), the visa information system (VIS), EURODAC and other wide-scale information systems in the field of Justice, Liberty and Security (EUROPE 9928).
