France promises effective opening up of its electricity market in middle of next year

Brussels, 15/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - The French prime minister, François Fillon, announced on Tuesday 15 September that France was committed to its electricity market complying with Community competition rules on 1 July 2010. In a letter addressed to Commissioner Neelie Kroes (Competition) and Andris Piebalgs (Energy), Fillon set out the modalities for the future French mechanism, which will be subject to a draft law.
