15/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 14 September at the opening of the plenary session, the European Parliament rejected the call from the Greens to postpone the appointment of the Commission president until after the Irish referendum. 135 MEPs voted for the postponement: virtually all the S&D Group, the Greens/EFA Group and the French MODEM MEPs. 248 voted against: the EPP Group, the ECR (Conservative) Group and the ALDE Group with the exception of MODEM. 14 MEPs abstained.
