Commission allocates €3 million for emergency aid to populations hit by serious flooding in West Africa

Brussels, 10/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to allocate €3 million in emergency humanitarian aid to the people of West Africa affected by devastating floods in early September further to particularly abundant rains during the rainy season.

The aid was announced on Wednesday 9 September by the services of Development and Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Karel De Gucht, with a view to a first assessment of needs. The assessment, carried out by a humanitarian...
