10/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) published a report on Thursday 10 September on HIV and behavioural surveillance in Europe. The report analyses systems set in place in 31 European countries. It shows that the degree of official behavioural surveillance varies considerably from one country to the next. Three countries (Bulgaria, Romania and Portugal) did not answer our inquiry. Only 15 countries have a behavioural surveillance system (Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom). The Netherlands does not have a national system but various surveillance systems for certain groups in the population. The report may be consulted at the ECDC website: http://www.ecdc.europa.eu (O.J./transl.jl)
