Brussels, 31/07/2009 (Agence Europe) - According to figures published on Friday 31 July 2009 by Eurostat, unemployment in the eurozone stood at 9.4% in June 2009, compared with 9.3% in May 2009 and 7.5% in June 2008. Unemployment in the EU27 stood at 8.9% in June 2009, compared with 8.8% in May 2009 and 6.9% in June 2008. These are the highest levels of unemployment in the eurozone and EU27 since June 2005, comments the EU's statistical office.
