Brussels, 28/07/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 27 July, the European Commission paid some of the loan instalments to Romania and Latvia (EUROPE 9869) as part of the Community's medium term balance of payments support mechanism. This facility, covered by Regulation 332/2002, provides support to EU members that are not in the Euro-zone to receive loans to help them confront the financial difficulties resulting from the economic and financial crisis.
