Brussels, 23/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament has opted for strict measures so that, in the future, timber and timber products from illegally felled trees will not reach the European Union market. The EU is one of the main outlets for third country exporters: 16-19% of timber imported by the EU in 2006 was of illegal or suspect provenance, according to a WWF study.
