Brussels, 17/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has opened a public consultation exercise that will run until Friday 5 June 2009 on changes in five sectors of retail, namely groceries, chemists, textiles, electronics and recreational goods. An online questionnaire is available for economic operators, consumers and member states to give their views on the right of establishment, contractual relations, promotions and marketing, sales conditions, after-sales, and the processing and recycling of waste. The feedback will help identify the main problems in the way the markets operate that the Commission and member states need to resolve at the most appropriate level. The feedback will also be used in developing performance indicators. In the autumn of 2009, the Commission will publish a report on the retail trade. Further information about the public consultation exercise can be found at: http: //ec.europa.eu/internal_market/retail/index_fr.htm#cons (M.B./transl.fl)
