17/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission, on 2 April, adopted a proposal which seeks to update Community rules transposing the control and enforcement scheme adopted by the North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC). One of the changes is the inclusion of a new port state control system which effectively closes European ports to landings of frozen fish which have not been declared legal by the flag state of foreign vessels.
