06/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - In a press release issued on Monday 6 April 2009, EU External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner welcomed the way the general elections in Moldova had turned out. She said that greater efforts were needed, however, going by the preliminary report by the election observers sent by the OSCE, which noted administrative interference and attacks on freedom of expression and access to information. The Commission said she was happy with the continuation of deeper EU-Moldova dialogue and the introduction of political and economic reforms, including a strengthening of the rule of law and fundamental freedoms that had been examined in the dialogue between the EU and the previous Molovan government.
