Parliament calls for acceleration and simplification in regional policy financing to help European economic recovery

Brussels, 11/03/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 11 March in Strasbourg, the European Parliament adopted by 508 votes to 30 and 52 abstentions the report by Evgeni Kirilov (PES, Bulgaria) on “cohesion policy - investing in the real economy”.

By adopting the report, MEPs suggest changes with a view to making subsidies from European Structural Funds more flexible, in reaction to the “exceptional circumstances”. Such changes aim to kick-start the economy and support the European...
