15/01/2009 (Agence Europe) - Open Europe (an independent think tank that brings representatives from British industry and finance together) urged MEPs to sign a declaration currently circulating in Strasbourg, that demands an end to the moving of the European Parliament between Brussels and Strasbourg every month. MEPs have until 15 January to sign the declaration but so far only 235 have voted and 393 signatures are needed for the declaration to be presented as the European Parliament's official policy. None of the 78 French MEPs have signed the text, as opposed to 15 out of the 19 Swedish MEPs and 11 out of the 14 Danish (only 51 out of the 78 British MEPs have signed). 1.2 million European citizens have signed a petition to this end on the http://www.oneseat.eu website.
