Commission approves Sony's acquisition of Bertelsmann's share in Sony BMG

Brussels, 16/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 15 September, the European Commission cleared the proposed acquisition of the 50% share held by Bertelsmann AG of Germany in Sony BMG by Sony Corporation of America. Sony will become the some owner of the company previously jointly-owned by Sony and Bertelsmann. The company will be renamed Sony Music Entertainment Inc.

In a press release, the Commission says that the operation would not result in horizontal overlaps in music recording...
