Insufficient data means only food from cloned pigs and cattle can be declared safe - major concerns over animal welfare

Brussels, 24/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - On 24 July, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) said, in its definitive opinion on the cloning of animals for food, that, with the scientific data at its disposal, milk and meat from cloned pigs and cattle, and their healthy offspring, are largely similar in their properties and composition to products from conventionally bred animals.
