Germany must recognise driving licences issued by other member states, except where normal issuing conditions are not met

Brussels, 27/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - In a judgement delivered on Thursday 26 June, the Court of Justice ruled that Germany had to recognise Czech driving licences issued to German nationals after their German licences had been withdrawn. Germany, however, may refuse to recognise these licences if they were not issued in accordance with European rules, i.e. if the licence holders were not resident in the Czech Republic at the time.
