Jacques Barrot to monitor detention centres

Brussels, 27/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - EU Justice Commissioner Jacques Barrot repeated on Thursday 26 June 2008 that he would be checking up on the conditions at detention centres for illegal immigrants in the EU. He said in two separate interviews with French media that he would be 'sticking his nose' into the conditions under which illegal immigrants are being held and would go and see cases sent on to him by MEPs.
