Luxemburg, 06/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - No progress was made in the Environment Council of 5 June on the draft directive requiring car manufacturers to bring the CO2 emissions levels from new cars down to130 grammes/km by 2012. The reason was that the talks between France and Germany, essential to any breakthrough, did not reach agreement. When asked, French Minister and next Council President Jean-Louis Borloo said it was a “European issue”.
