Launch of visa abolition dialogue with Bosnia

Brussels, 19/05/2008 (Agence Europe) -European Commissioner for Justice, Liberty and Security Jacques Barrot is due to launch a dialogue on the liberalisation of visa arrangements with Bosnia-Herzegovina officially on 26 May in Brussels. Following Serbia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Albania and Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina is the final Western Balkan country to open a dialogue on the abolition of visas with the EU. Agreements on readmission and visa facilitation with Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, FYROM and Serbia entered into force on 1 January 2008. These agreements are valid for all EU countries with the exception of Denmark, the UK and Ireland. The Commission recently submitted a roadmap to Serbia and FYROM with a view to abolishing the visa arrangements. Montenegro is also due to receive a similar document in the near future. (B.C.)
