18/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 17 April, the EU strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Iraq, the latest attack committed the same day being in a village near Kirkuk, to the north of the country, in which 50 lost their lives. In a statement, the Slovenian EU Presidency also points out that it supports the Iraqi authorities in their endeavour to prevent terrorist attacks on the civilian population and to bring peace and stability to the country. The day after the Iraqi prime minister's visit to Brussels (EUROPE 9644), the Presidency reaffirms its support for a secure, stable, democratic and prosperous Iraq, based on its commitment to the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the country.
