18/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - Reacting to comments by former Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Carla del Ponte, accusing many high-ranking Albanian politicians in Kosovo, including the current prime minister Hashim Thaçi, of trafficking in organs removed from Serbian prisoners, Françoise Grossetête (French UMP MEP) is calling for an investigation into these serious allegations. She points out in a press release that the trafficking of organs endangers the credibility of the system of free and voluntary organ donors. She adds that through her statements, Carla del Ponte has thrown the cat amongst the pigeons and has reminded people of the urgent need to take measures to prevent organ transplant tourism. (O.J.)
