18/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - Luxembourg's prime minister, Jean-Claude Juncker, and several MEPs, including the UMP MEP from La Réunion in France, Margie Sudre, have paid tribute to the famous author of 'Cahier d'un retour au pays natal', Aimé Césaire, who died on Thursday 17 April. His work will live on. The man may have died but he will remain the poet of "négritude", said Francis Wurtz, French President of the European United Left, adding that the intellectual from the Caribbean had been a universally recognised fighter for social equality. An intransigent anti-colonialist, the author of "La tragédie du roi Christophe" had also been a leading politician for 50 years and the founder of the 'Parti progressiste martiniquais,' added Wurtz.
