Modified agenda for December plenary in Strasbourg

Brussels, 07/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - Changes have been made to the preliminary draft agenda (EUROPE 9557) of the plenary session of the European Parliament, which will be held in Strasbourg from Monday 10 to Thursday 13 December.

The debate on the reports by Marie-Noëlle Lienneman (Community policy for the marine environment) and by Holger Krahmer (ambient air quality) have been moved from Tuesday to Monday. The following have been added to Monday: - declaration of the Commission on the safety of toys; - oral question from Glyn Ford to the Commission on fire safety in hotels; - oral question from the committee on legal affairs to the Commission on the common reference framework for European contract law; - declaration by the Commission on the 10th anniversary of the Convention of Ottawa on the ban on landmines. It is worth noting that the report by Ona Jukneviciene on public censuses and housing (co-decision, first reading) remains on the agenda for Monday, but the vote in plenary on the report has been postponed, pending the opinion of the committee on civil liberties, justice and home affairs. The following reports have been added to the agenda for Tuesday 11 December: - vote on the reports by Herbert Bösch (checks during the export of agricultural products benefiting from restitutions or other sums of money), by Ioannis Gklavakis (sales of propagating material for fruit plants and fruit plants to be used for the production of fruit), by Adriana Poli Bortone (nutritional claims and health relating to foodstuffs), by Ieke van den Burg (temporary provisions on VAT rates), by James Elles (draft rectifying budget 7/2007), by Christopher Heaton-Harris (a paperless environment for customs and commerce), by Josu Ortuondo Larrea (on the interoperability of the Community rail system) and by Ioannis Varvitsiotis on diplomatic and consular protection in third countries; - votes on the reports concerning joint enterprises (reports by Gianni De Michelis on ARTEMIS, by Nikolaos Vakalis on ENIAC, by Françoise Grossetête on IMI and by Lena Ek on Clean Sky) ; - between 9 p.m. and midnight, debates on the reports by Jörg Leichtfried (European Aviation Safety Agency) and by Klaus-Heiner Lehne (legal protection for designs or models), and an oral question from the committee on transport to the Commission on the Eurovignette. The following have been added to the agenda of Wednesday 12 December: - votes on the report by Johannes Blokland (EC/Morocco agreement on aviation services), by Paolo Costa (changes to the EC/Morocco agreement on aviation services further to the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the EU), by Reimer Böge (mobilisation of the Globalisation Adjustment Fund, mobilisation of the flexibility instrument and amendments to the inter-institutional agreement on the revision of the multi-annual financial framework), by Werner Langen (indirect taxation on the raising of capital) and by Pedro Guerreiro (CMO in the sector of fishery and aquaculture products). The following has been added to the agenda of Wednesday 12: - declaration by the Commission on the EU/China dialogue on human rights, further to the Beijing Summit of 28 November (3 p.m.); - anticipated adoption of a resolution further to the debate on the fight against the rise of extremism in Europe; - declaration by the Commission on World Aids Day (between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.). The following has been added to the agenda of Thursday 13: an oral question by the group GUE/NGL to the Commission regarding the expiry of the EU/China memorandum of understanding on the trade in textiles. Lastly, on Thursday 13 December, up from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., debates and votes will be held on cases of violations of human rights, democracy and the rule of law in eastern Chad, women's rights in Saudi Arabia and justice for so-called “comfort women”.
