Commission opinion in favour of controversial project for building nuclear plant in Belene, Bulgaria

Brussels, 07/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 7 December, the European Commission gave an opinion in favour of the construction of the nuclear plant in Belene, Bulgaria, insofar as this meets the demands contained in Articles 41 and 43 of the Euratom Treaty. The Bulgarian energy producer, Natsionalna Elektricheska Kompania (NEK) will be in charge of this project, which includes construction of two reactors of 100 megawatt, both of which will be located around a hundred kilometres from the...
