Commission says directive on collective management of copyright in online music sector is premature

Strasbourg, 19/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - When questioned by MEPs on the follow-up to their appeal for a framework directive governing the collective cross-border management of copyright for the online music market (see EUROPE 9386), the Commission said that it was too early to favour one management model over the others available. “While the online market for music is still in flux, legislating in favour of a particular licensing model would appear premature”, declared Joe Borg on...
