15/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 14 November 2007, the European Parliament adopted a report by Bert Doorn (EPP-ED, the Netherlands) on incorporating the 2006 interinstitutional comitology agreement on the auditing of consolidated, annual accounts. On the activity of audit companies from outside the EU operating in the EU, and the role of the competent authorities in third countries, the report foresees a regulatory procedure with scrutiny for the adoption of general equivalence procedures. The MEPs want the old comitology procedure to still apply to Commission decisions on the equivalence or suitability of requirements and standards established by third companies, with regard to EU rules.
