31/10/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 30 October, the European Commission adopted a proposal revising, simplifying and modernising the statistics system on trade in goods with third countries (Extrastat). The external trade statistics register imports and exports of goods between the member states and third countries. This information is of vital importance in shaping European economic and trade policies and for analysing developments in the markets for various products. (L.C.)
