Rabat, 30/10/2007 (Agence Europe) - On 25-26, Moroccan civil society carried out an assessment of the Morocco-EU action plan. This plan is part of the European neighbourhood policy and the assessment was carried out on the initiative of EMHRN (Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network). 150 representatives from NGOs and civil society organisations participated in the assessment. NGOs welcomed the involvement of civil society in the implementation and monitoring of the Moroccan action plan. They called for implementation of a concerted mechanism between the authorities and civil society, in order to develop regular and systematic consultations in the political dialogue between partners and the follow-up and assessment process for implementation of the action plan. NGOs want regular assessment of the progress to be based on criteria, indicators and a precise timetable. (F.B.)
