15/10/2007 (Agence Europe) - The Ukraine and Poland intends to reach an agreement on 17 October on new rules for crossing borders. These rules are expected to apply after Poland joins the Schengen area at the end of December 2007. Ukraine is insisting that Poland grants a visa-free system to its citizens residing in border areas that are less than 50 kilometres from Polish borders. A similar agreement was negotiated with Hungary, which is also joining the Schengen area. (B.C.)
