20/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - Before joining the euro on 1 January 2008, Malta will be holding a conference on 1 October on EMU governance and the changeover to the euro, organised by the Maltese Central Bank in cooperation with the European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Commission. Participants include Lawrence Gonzi, Maltese prime minister and finance minister, Jean-Claude Trichet, ECB President, and Joaquin Almunia, EU Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner.
